Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to healing that recognizes a simple truth:

trauma and stress live in the body, not just the mind.

Even when you logically understand your past, your body may still react with anxiety, tension, shutdown, anger, or overwhelm. Somatic therapy helps you reconnect with your body in a safe, grounded way so those patterns can finally release.

Instead of only talking, somatic therapy gently brings awareness to:

  • Sensations in the body

  • Breath, movement, and posture

  • The nervous system’s stress and safety responses

By learning to listen to your body’s signals, you can build a sense of internal safety and regulation. Over time, your system learns that it no longer has to stay on high alert — or shut down to survive.

Somatic therapy can be especially helpful if you:

  • Feel anxious, numb, or disconnected from your body

  • Experience chronic stress, overwhelm, or emotional flooding

  • Have a trauma history that feels “stuck” despite insight

  • Want practical tools to calm your nervous system
